Государственная политика регламентирования международных расчетов и валютных операций с целью регулирования платежного баланса страны и поддержания стабильности валютного курса. Ограничивая предложение иностранной валюты, государство может сократить объем импорта до уровня, соответствующего валютной выручке от экспорта. Политика валютного регулирования также может быть направлена на изменение структуры импорта и его ограничение, что по сути является формой протекционизма.
